This year, I am committing to writing everyday. I love to write, but find I put it off because there is always something that needs to be done first. So this year I am letting the laundry pile up, the dust collect and taking the year to enjoy writing again. I can't promise it will be a fascinating journey, but I can promise it will be real life. Grab a cup of coffee and join me as I meander my way through life.

Life with a twenty month old is always an adventure. Today, he followed his grandfather outside and then proceeded to climb a ladder. When I plucked him off the ladder, my heart racing a mile a minute, he squishes my cheeks together, looks at me with big brown eyes and says earnestly "Dranma, I done."
How do you get mad at that?

Today we took pizza to my grandson's daycare for lunch. Because it is Good Friday, she had extra children, so we thought it would be a good day to treat. I had asked Jen on Wednesday if it would be ok. She was so excited, she was actually jumping up and down. I had to laugh, because there are days that if I didn't have to cook, I would do the same.
We picked up the pizza, snuck up to the door so the wee one wouldn't see us and knocked quietly on the door. Stealthy, the door opened, we slipped her the pizza and breadsticks , and quickly drove off. Giggling like a loon, I told my husband I felt like I was in a spy movie. He rolled his eyes and laughed.
When we went to pick up our boy, she was still thanking us. It reminded me that sometimes the smallest gestures make the most impact.

There is an old saying "when your children are young, they walk on your feet, when they grow up, they walk on your heart."
I never understood that saying until today.

Because of staff reductions, I have had to change jobs within the bank I work for. In the compliance world I used to inhabit, there were only three of us. Life was quiet, no drama.
In the new loan world I have been thrust into, there are 11 of us. It is like being in a sorority all day long. People tend to share intimate details of their lives. If someone had a fight with their spouse, there are 9 sympathetic women to empathize, and one lone man to hang his head in shame. If the kids are driving you to drink, there is always someone willing to go along for the ride.
I have to say, I was not looking forward to the change, but the camaraderie is a bonus.

Everyday when we pick up Kylan, Jen, our daycare provider gives us an update on his day.
Today she says, and I quote "Maddy listens really well, Gavin listens pretty good, and everything I say to Kylan, he thinks is just a suggestion."
I think grandma and grandpa just got a failing grade.
